Introduction
Catchybara LLC ("BuffMe," "we," "us," or "our") operates the BuffMe.gg website and the BuffMe mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the Service.
Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information: Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, username, profile photo, and any other information you choose to provide in your profile (such as bio, gaming tags, or social media handles). If you sign in using Apple, Google, or Twitch, we receive basic profile information from those providers as authorized by you. Payment Information: When you pay for sessions or conduct transactions on the platform, session payment processing is handled by Stripe. BuffCoin purchases are processed through Apple In-App Purchase. We do not store your full credit card number, debit card number, or bank account details on our servers. Stripe may collect and store payment credentials in accordance with their own privacy policy. We collect Apple In-App Purchase transaction data (receipt validation, transaction IDs) for BuffCoin purchases. We also collect payout information when you cash out earned coins via Stripe Connect. Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including session bookings, messages sent and received, friend connections, reviews, ratings, search queries, pages visited, and features used. Device Information: We collect device identifiers, operating system type and version, app version, push notification tokens, IP address, browser type, and general location information derived from your IP address. Media Content: If you upload photos or videos to your profile or within the Service, we collect and store that content. Communications: We collect the content of messages you send through our in-app messaging system, as well as any communications you send to our support team.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes: Providing the Service: To create and manage your account, facilitate session bookings between players and Pro coaches or Win Buddies, process session payments via Stripe and BuffCoin purchases via Apple In-App Purchase, manage coin balances and cash-out payouts via Stripe Connect, and enable messaging and friend features. Communication: To send you push notifications about session updates, messages, friend requests, and other Service-related alerts. To respond to your support inquiries and send important account notifications. Improvement and Analytics: To understand how users interact with the Service, identify trends, diagnose technical issues, and improve the overall user experience. Safety and Security: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service. To verify user identity and enforce our community guidelines. Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party service providers to operate the Service. Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your data: Supabase: We use Supabase for database hosting, user authentication, and backend infrastructure. Your account data, messages, and other Service data are stored on Supabase-managed servers. Stripe: We use Stripe to process session payments in USD and to handle Pro/Buddy payouts via Stripe Connect. Stripe collects and processes your payment and payout information directly. For more information, see Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy. Apple In-App Purchase: BuffCoin purchases are processed through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple collects payment information and processes transactions according to their privacy policy. We receive transaction receipts and IDs for validation purposes. Agora: We use Agora to provide real-time voice chat during gaming sessions. Agora may process audio data and connection metadata during voice calls. Session payments are held in escrow until service completion and the 48-hour dispute window passes. Apple and Google Authentication: If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, those providers share limited profile information with us as authorized by you during the sign-in process. Expo / Push Notification Services: We use Expo and platform-specific push notification services (Apple Push Notification Service, Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver push notifications to your device. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share data with the service providers listed above only to the extent necessary to operate and improve the Service.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit, secure authentication protocols, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service to you. If you delete your account, your personal information will be deleted or anonymized within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. During this 30-day period, you may reactivate your account by logging back in. Transaction records and payment history may be retained for a longer period as required by applicable financial regulations.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@buffme.gg and we will take steps to delete that information. Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may use the Service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Parents or guardians who allow minors to use the Service are responsible for monitoring their use and ensuring it is appropriate.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information: Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. Correction: You may request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal information. Deletion: You may request that we delete your personal information. You can delete your account directly from the app settings, which will initiate the removal of your data. Data Portability: You may request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used format. Opt-Out of Communications: You can disable push notifications through your device settings at any time. You can manage email communication preferences from your account settings. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@buffme.gg. We will respond to your request within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.
Push Notifications
With your consent, we send push notifications to your mobile device to inform you about session updates, new messages, friend requests, and other Service-related activity. You can opt out of push notifications at any time by adjusting your device notification settings or within the app settings. Even if you opt out of push notifications, we may still send you important account-related communications via email or in-app messages, such as security alerts or changes to our terms.
Do-Not-Track Signals
Some web browsers transmit "Do-Not-Track" (DNT) signals to websites. Because there is no universally accepted standard for how to interpret DNT signals, BuffMe does not currently respond to or alter its practices when it receives DNT signals from your browser. If a uniform standard for responding to DNT signals is adopted in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy to reflect our practices accordingly.
Notice to California Residents
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These include the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA. To exercise your rights under the CCPA, please contact us at support@buffme.gg.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending you a notification through the Service or via email. Your continued use of the Service after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
